MadisonIn Wisconsin the medical technology industry provides nearly 15,000 direct jobs and 42,000 indirect jobs, contributing approximately $9 billion to the state’s economy.  I visited Philips HealthCare to discuss the importance of building a stronger medical technology cluster in Wisconsin with key industry leaders.  With funding for seed accelerator and capital catalyst programs, economic development tax credits and angel investment tax credits, Wisconsin is promoting opportunities for innovation and expansion.

Watertown Wisconsin produces roughly one-fourth of the cheese in the United States, leading the nation. It takes about ten gallons of milk to create one pound of great Wisocnsin cheese.  Last year, our administration announced the “Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30x20” plan, which set a goal of achieving an annual milk production of 30 billion pounds by the year 2020.  This increase in production we will ensure that Wisconsin remains a national leader in the dairy industry. I had a great time at this dairy breakfast in Watertown.

Union GroveI had the distinct honor of helping to rededicate Gates Hall Veterans Home.  Marcia L. Gates was an Army nurse who volunteered to serve during World War II.  The hall has recently converted to a skilled nursing facility.

Pleasent Prairie We were in Pleasant Prairie at Uline where we invited Illinois and Wisconsin manufacturers to hear about efforts to improve the Wisconsin business climate. You might remember that Uline came over the border from Illinois and recently continued to expand in Wisconsin. They know what others continue to find out: Wisconsin is a great place in which to grow and expand a business!

Germantown, WI Germany ranks among the top countries in the world who import Wisconsin goods.  In Germantown I spoke to employees from the German based company Hainbuch, highlighting the company's success and decision to expand in Wisconsin.  As a manufacture of workholding technology, Hainbuch America serves markets throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.  The new 16,000 square foot sales and manufacturing facility represents how companies like Hainbuch see Wisconsin as a place where production and jobs creation can take place.
